Reunion Update #4 (5/31/17)

Posted: 6/3/2017

From Rich Clybourne:

I apologize for the long gap in providing an update to the reunion. This reunion thing has a lot of moving pieces and the committee and I have been trying to put them all together to give you a better picture of the scheduled events and the associated costs for reunion weekend. Here goes:

  1. Need Coordinator – We are looking for someone to take on the role of coordinator for the class memorial service on Friday of the reunion weekend. This can be done remotely (from outside the Annapolis area) through phone calls and emails. This event is a key part of reunion weekend and those who have attended in the past have commented on the importance of keeping these classmates in our hearts and minds. It is an opportunity to honor our fallen classmates and their families and to recognize the sacrifice that they made for our class, our school, and our country. If you are interested, please send me an email at rbclyborne@gmail.com or call me at 410-703-3138 (mobile) or 410-975-9077 (home).
  2. Registration Website – I know people are getting tired of hearing that the site will be going live in the next couple of weeks but unfortunately that’s where we still are. Technical difficulties with the Alumni Association’s online registration process have caused us to go to an outside vendor to handle online registration for the reunion. Dan Proulx is working with that vendor to get us up and running as soon as possible but it may take until mid-June to get that done. Please bear with us. Jane will be sending out a link via email when the site goes live which we are striving to make happen a soon as possible.

Online registration will end at midnight on 27 August. If you miss the online registration window and still want to come to the reunion you can email me at rbclyborne@gmail.com and we will get you registered. The late registration fee will go up to $100 after 27 August. Also if you want to attend the tailgater the late fee will be $125 per person 12 yrs.old and up; the fee for children under 12 will remain at $40.

NOTE: If you decide to just show up on Saturday for the tailgater and you did not register prior to 08 September you will be charged $225 for the first tailgate admission and $145 for any additional admissions (12 yrs. old and up); children under 12 will remain at $40 per admission. Additionally you will have to have a football game ticket to enter the tailgater.

NOTE: In lieu of having the website up I am re-sending most of the information contained in previous updates with more current information (times, venues, costs, etc.) so that you can be better prepared with your choices once we do have the website available for registration.

3.  Reunion check-in will be handled by a group employed by Brian Caldwell (’95). Check-in will occur at Ogle Hall (the Alumni Association house) on King George St. from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM on Thursday, 07 September and Friday, 08 September and at the Crab Feast and Post-Parade Reception. There will be no registration at the tailgater on Saturday, 09 September, only tailgater payment will be accepted. If you registered online and the first event you can attend is the tailgater, your geedunk bag will be at the tailgate check in table.

4.  You will be required to check in for each event – Please bring your email confirmation listing the events or wristband (still working those details) for those events of which you have registered to check-in at Ogle Hall and to each of the events in case there is a discrepancy. Brian Caldwell’s group will be handling check-ins at all the reunion events for the weekend. A member of the reunion committee will be at each event to handle any questions/discrepancies.

5.  Lodging – the hotels listed in the previous updates are still taking reservations the only hotel that is “sold out” is the O’Callaghan and they do not have any more capacity for the reunion weekend. If demand dictates, we will add room blocks as the remaining hotels capacity allow. That information will be communicated on an as needed basis.        Here is the list again:

Reunion Update #2

Posted: 3/16/2017

Your 35th Reunion Committee Chairman, Rich Clyborne, has provided this update, as of March 13, 2017:

Reunion Update #2
I apologize for the delay in updating everyone with this information and also for the fragmentation.  Your Reunion Committee is hard at work trying to finalize all of the arrangements for the items on our schedule of events.  I at least wanted to give you some of the confirmed information as I know a lot of you are anxious to finalize your plans.  Once again please send any reunion questions you may have to me at rbclyborne@gmail.com.

Registration Website
We are looking to finalize all pricing and reunion information by the end of March.  Once all event information has been finalized we will stand up the registration website.  We will be using the Alumni Association’s website as the host for the registration page.  We will once again have an ala carte style for choosing and paying for events.  I strongly recommend that everyone visit the Alumni Association website and update their contact information particularly their email addresses.  You will have to log in to the Alumni Association website in order to register!

We will continue to post lodging information as it is finalized (first update below) between now and when the registration website is up and running.

Lodging

35th Reunion Set for 7-10 Sept 2017

Posted: 2/14/2017

Good Morning, ’82!

The Reunion dates have been set! On Thursday, February 9, the American Athletic Conference announced the 2107 football schedule. Your 35th Reunion Committee, led by Rich Clybourne (1), sprang into action, held a vote, and announced the next day that the dates you have been waiting 35 years to learn are September 7-10, 2017. Please note that this is not the official Homecoming. Our football opponent will be Tulane (per the song, the one that Army doesn’t play).

From Rich: “A bit of planning has taken place already but the lion’s share will be happening over the next 3-5 months and I ask for your patience and understanding as the reunion sub-committees finalize the details for venues, pricing, dates and times, etc. for reunion weekend events. Jane will be putting out a class-wide email when we have a registration website established and the rest of the reunion info ready to go. To keep the reunion gouge accurate and up to date I’m asking that you send your reunion questions directly to me at rbclyborne@gmail.com. Facebook and other social media can be a great way to get the word out but sometimes false information can be promulgated. I promise if you send me an email I will do my best to get an answer for you in a timely manner.”

To ensure that you are receiving email blasts from Goat One Jane and the Reunion Committee, please be sure that your profile is current at www.USNA.com.  Login and go to My Account to update. Also, check out the class Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/usna82/ and our class website at http://1982.usnaclasses.net/  I guarantee that this will be the best 35th Reunion our great class has ever had. You do not want to miss it. See you in Crabtown September 7-10, 2017!
