40th Reunion – Update #5
We are about 125 days and a wakeup before our 40th Reunion on October 27-30, 2022.

1) TIME SENSITIVE – ORDER CLASS OF 1982 CLOTHING BY JUNE 26:
A site for ordering clothing articles to wear to the reunion and other places is at http://www.usnaclasstore.com/82store.html Orders placed by June 26 (this Sunday) will be shipped the week of August 8, 2022. We don’t know the timing for delivery of later orders, but check it out today and get your orders in.

2) THURSDAY EVENTS (tip o’ the cap to Donna Sengelaub and Dave Burnes for their organizational efforts for these events). Please schedule these into your Annapolis arrival plans – the more the merrier!

a) COFFEE AND CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST: Kickstart the reunion by joining your classmates for Coffee and Continental Breakfast at the Naval Academy Club on Thursday 27 October from 0800 – 1100.

For those who don’t remember their Plebe Summer Yard Gouge, the Naval Academy Club is located across from Leahy Hall (Admissions Office) and the Tripoli Monument.  If in doubt, you can always dust off and consult your Reef Points.

The cost for the Coffee and Continental Breakfast is $25 per person and the menu includes: breakfast pastries, muffins or croissants, preserves, whipped butter seasonal fresh fruit, orange, apple and cranberry juices, coffee, decaf coffee, herbal tea, and water.

b) YARD WALKING TOUR: For an additional $15, there will also be a 1.5 hour guided tour of the Yard will start at the Armel-Leftwich Visitor’s Center (Field House) beginning at 10:30 which will end at T-Court just in time to view noon meal formation and Thursday inspection.

Tours of Hopper Hall, the new Cyber-Warfare Center, are currently being coordinated.  More details to follow as updated information becomes available.

A lot has changed at USNA since 26 May 1982 (Hopper Hall – new Cyber Warfare Center; Alumni Hall added; all academic buildings have been completely renovated – Sampson, Maury, Rickover, NIMITZ Library, Chauvenet, Michelson, upgrades to Memorial Hall; Uriah P. Levy-Jewish Center; completely different midshipmen room arrangement; new roof on the Chapel; air conditioning in Bancroft Hall; reflection pool is gone; Wesley Brown Field House; Twilliger Hall; renovated Sailing Center; Soccer Stadium; updated Bishop Baseball Field; Renovated Dry Dock, etc, etc).    A running list of changes on the Yard since 26 May 1982 will be provided to you at check-in in your reunion packet so you can also tour the Yard at your leisure during the reunion weekend.

3) REGISTRATION: Registration for these and all other Class Reunion events will go live online on August 1, 2022. You will need to register separately for the Coffee/Continental Breakfast and/or the Guided Tour of the Yard. Basic registration will be $82 per classmate, and includes a bag of gedunk/SWAG.

REMINDERS FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES:
A) LodgingAll of the ’82 hotel room blocks have been expanded and then sold out. You will need to make your own accommodation arrangements. Our reunion is on Homecoming weekend. Annapolis will be busy, so please make your arrangements soon.

B) Old Goat Run – Jeremiah McEnerney is coordinating the perimeter run for Saturday morning at 0800. Start dropping those pounds and limbering up so you can “follow the man in the red Corvette!”

C) Tailgater – We will be having the Tailgater inside the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in the Class of ’53 Pavilion, just as we did for our 35th Having the tailgater inside the stadium will require everyone attending to buy a football game ticket; no exceptions. All classmates must have a football tix and a tailgater band to enter.

For discounted football tickets to the Reunion game, Saturday, 29 October 2022, go to navysports.com, click on the “tickets” tab, select “enter ticket promo codes”, then type in 1982 in the text bar. The tickets are digital. If you haven’t used the process, there are videos and FAQs on https://navysports.com/sports/2020/8/10/navy-digital-ticketing.aspx that explain process for different transactions. ”Hill 2” tickets will be closest to our tailgater.

D) Bike Ride – Mark “Stick” Converse is coordinating a ride on Sunday morning, open to all riders, kinds of bikes, and abilities. 0730 departure from the Route 2 Trailhead on the Annapolis-BWI Trail. For those coming from out of town, Big Wheel Bikes has multiple locations in the DC area with multiple bike types available to reserve for rental.
